Even as Singapore continues to push the boundaries of technology in its growing digital economy and is frequently lauded as a high-income economy with one of the world’s highest per capita income, we believe there is a digital divide in Singapore. Segments of our Singapore society do not have equal opportunity for education and employment because they may not have easy access to basic computer equipment that is necessary for schoolwork, job search, taking on remote working employment opportunities or upgrading their computer literacy. As a result, many are disadvantaged from progressing in their academic endeavours or in their employment pursuits, thereby creating a cycle of economic immobility. This is something we would like to make a positive impact in to change for the better.
