The Initiative

Bridge the Digital Divide is an initiative started by Xpointo Media, a digital marketing company headquartered in Singapore, as a corporate social responsibility project. This initiative was launched on 1 December 2019 during Giving Week, a global movement that celebrates the spirit of giving and seeks to make giving part of our way of life.

The Bridge the Digital Divide project aims to solicit corporate donations of working condition used laptops to re-direct to partnering non-profit organisations that either have a need for the laptops themselves through their programmes or are able to find suitable beneficiaries.

Why are we doing this?

Even as Singapore continues to push the boundaries of technology in its growing digital economy and is frequently lauded as a high-income economy with one of the world’s highest per capita income, we believe there is a digital divide in Singapore.

Segments of our Singapore society do not have equal opportunity for education and employment because they may not have easy access to basic computer equipment that is necessary for schoolwork, job search, taking on remote working employment opportunities or upgrading their computer literacy. As a result, many are disadvantaged from progressing in their academic endeavours or in their employment pursuits, thereby creating a cycle of economic immobility. This is something we would like to make a positive impact in to change for the better.

We are currently looking for partners and collaborators to work with us on the project.
